Quick tip: Improving balance

A beginning dancer asked for advice about improving balance while learning sean-nós steps. Using a chair can give you extra support while you're learning. If weight changes in a step feel challenging or if you're frustrated while working on a complex step, taking balance out of the equation can let your mind and body focus on learning. Especially if you’ve never danced before, your brain is building new neural pathways as you learn. Then as you feel more confident in your balance, you can experiment with dancing the step without a chair.
